Model Predictions
Gravitational wave bursts from black holes losing angular momentum against high density matter in energetic core-collapse supernovae, as TOOs for LIGO-Virgo and KAGRA searches for gravitational waves in the Local Universe. Prediction of X-ray afterglows to short GRBs (van Putten & Ostriker 2001), confirmed by HETE II and Swift in 2005. Long GRBs from mergers involving rapidly rotating black holes (van Putten 1999), observed in short GRBs with Extended Emission (SGRBEEs) such as GRB060616. Evidence for black hole spindown can be seen in normalized light curves of the BATSE catalogue of 1491 long GRBs (van Putten & Gupta 2009; van Putten 2012).

Other Research Interests
Pair condensates produced in bosenovae (2010); experimental fluid dynamics and heat transfer at micro-Kelvin resolution in a modulated Rayleigh-Benard chambers (2007; approved for use in commerce by the State of California, CTEP/CDFA#5554-8); EEG data-analysis in clinical applications.
